Data collected in the southern African region of interest to SAFARI 2000.

Mercury allows searching of multiple metadata databases to find data sets of interest. For the SAFARI 2000 version of Mercury, three databases can be searched for data collected within the southern African region, in addition to data collected for the SAFARI 2000 Project:

Land Validation Data	A global project designed to validate remote sensing products using field data. Several of the validation field sites are in southern Africa.
Regional and Global Data	A registry of regional and global data sets held at data centers located around the world.
ORNL DAAC Data	An archive of biogeochemical dynamics data ranging from field campaigns to global data sets.

When selecting one of these metadata databases, Mercury performs a spatial search to determine if any data from the databases were collected in southern Africa.
