<abstract>This data set consists of scanned and rectified maps for Honduras (Gulf of Fonseca and Islas de la Bahia). The rasterized maps (DRGs) were generated from original scanned maps created by NIMA (National Imagery and Mapping Agency) of the Honduras coastal areas. EROS Data Center has reformatted the 8 maps into a more widely readable format. The scanned maps were reprojected by NWRC, and targeted study areas were clipped for cartographic purposes.</abstract>
<purpose>To serve as base maps for the habitat data. Secondarily, to serve as maps for field work.</purpose>

<procdesc>Scanned, rectified and mosaicked 1:50,000 DRGs from EROS were acquired and reprojected to UTM/NAD27. The images were converted into .tiff files (with an associated .tfw world file). For subsetting the project areas, the tiff files were converted into grids. Using the "grid clip" command in ARC/Info, the project areas were clipped for cartographic processes. The clipped grids were then reconverted back into tiff files. Collar information, grid and graticule were added if the intended use was for field work. If the intended use was for base map transfer, a grid, graticule and title were added.</procdesc>
